Engage and Grow in Faith

Building faith-based relationships is a cornerstone goal at Smithfield Church. Lifelong friendships can begin and grow as God’s word - The Holy Bible - is studied and disciples become increasingly like-minded. Because this study of Holy Scripture is present in most Smithfield Church activities, the invitations for you to join might be overwhelming at first. At Smithfield, we encourage you to relax, try out as many studies and classes as you like, and note how many new friends you make along the way. See you there.

  • Pray

At Smithfield Methodist we welcome your prayers. When you request a prayer here, you may direct that it privately goes only to our Prayer Team or that it be posted on our Prayer Wall for community prayer by an approved listing of Christians. If you have an urgent prayer request to our Pastor, please notify the church office at 817-214-0314.

Privacy is taken seriously here on our Prayer Hub and your requests will only be made visible to those groups you request.

  • Bible Studies

You’re invited to explore the Bible at Smithfield Church among a group of Believers. Bible studies are organized by adult groups, youth groups, and by women or men’s groups. Dates and times are detailed in the Happenings Newsletter in the Sunday Worship Bulletins, and on the Church Calendar. Studies are held during Sunday classes, Tuesday or Wednesday classes, on campus, and off campus.

  • Break Bread and Study

TGIW - Every Wednesday evening at 5:15, a meal is prepared by teams and served to all who attend in the Family Life Center. It’s known as Thank God It’s Wednesday (TGIW) and it free of charge. Teams usually are raising money for a ministry posted beside the servcing area, so donations are optional.

Meals are also served at many of the Women and Men’s group gatherings.

You’ll often see announcements for potluck meals, usually served between Sunday worship services or after worship. Be sure to join in because there is always plenty and Methodists, as you wil see, are excellent cooks.

  • Programs for Kids and Youth

Babies, kids, and teens are welcome at Smithfield. Babies are welcome in the Nursery adjacent the foyer (known as the narthex) entering the worship sanctuary. The Nursery is usually available whe adult activities are scheduled. The Discovery School on the SMC campus offers award-winning preschool classes during the school year. The childrens Christian programming at Smithfield Methodist benefits directly from the curriculum, planning, and expertise made available by the Discovery School presence. Youth activities for teens are held Sunday afternoons, Wednesday evenings, and during summer mission work trips.

  • Adult Class Meetings

Small group monthly meetings are organised around a dinner meal in the home of a leader. For women , this is At The Table and for men, Table of 8.

Methodist Class Meetings are at the heart of the Wesleyan Christian movement. A wide variety of classes meet on Sundays and you are invited to join in. The classes begin immediately after the Traditional worship service on Sundays. Checkout the class map, jump in, and you’ll soon see the value of these class meetings.
